Fans of 2D and nostalgic gaming rejoice - Old School Runescape (OSR) and Runescape are coming to Steam!

The Jagex MMORPG released way back in 2001, and still finds new fans, and keeps the old, every day, and can now welcome a new audience on its October 14 Steam release.

Runescape exists in a medieval fantasy world called Gielinor, where you, the player, can travel through, fighting monsters, collecting resources, and completing quests.

Previously, the game has only been available from the Runescape website, but the Valve platform will soon host the legendary MMORPG for Steam users. The game has had over 200 million accounts created since its launch, and holds the Guinness World Record for largest and most-updated free MMORPG. Not only this, the game has made over $1 billion in lifetime revenue.

Runescape is also available on mobile and boasts 8 million downloads.

Jagex said of the Steam port:

“After nearly 20 years of being exclusively available from the RuneScape website, the PC and Mac editions of the iconic MMOs RuneScape and Old School RuneScape will soon be available on the Steam platform.”

Never fear if you prefer Old School Runescape, as that is coming to Steam in 2021.

Prepare to start the long road of grinding to Fishing Level 99 when Runescape launches on Steam on October 14.
