Starfield has been a hugely anticipated title since Bethesda announced they were developing a new IP, and when that title came with a theme of interdimensional travel, it only got bigger.

The final frontier is one that Bethesda have never touched on, and with their mastery of storytelling in the realm of Tamriel and across post-apocalypse America, there’s no doubt they’ll be able to pull out an excellent story set across the expanse of space. Many players across platforms are hoping to get their hands on the new IP - but as it turns out, only some of them might actually be able to.

Is Starfield An Xbox Exclusive?

Rumours have been circulating recently that Starfield will only be available to Xbox and PC players, to the utter dismay of other console users. It makes sense, and it’s an event many players saw coming after the massive Bethesda and Xbox merger from earlier this year. But now, the rumour has been offered something of a backbone.

Jeff Grubb, an industry insider, has provided what many have deemed confirmation of the game’s debut on Xbox on Twitter. In response to another tweet alluding to Grubb knowing about the status of Starfield’s exclusivity, he makes his stance clear: “Starfield is exclusive to Xbox and PC. Period. This is me confirming that.” He then follows the tweet up with another short one, reading “Like, go write the story.”

He seems incredibly confident in Starfield’s exclusivity, and while he cannot confirm on Microsoft’s behalf, he seems confident enough to let his reputation as an insider serve as collateral to this statement.

Whether or not the title is truly an exclusive is a fact that will come with time (at this year’s E3, perhaps), but it’s an exciting prospect for Xbox fans. For those who have been excited about this game since its initial announcement, it looks like the Bethesda merger is about to pay off hugely.
