If you're ready for a rootin' tootin' trip to the Old West, the latest big news from the gaming world is the idea that Rockstar Games could finally be preparing to roll out a Red Dead Redemption remaster. Alongside huge games like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto 5Red Dead Redemption is a jewel in the Rockstar crown. Although a lot of kudos gets thrown Red Dead Redemption 2's way, let's remember we'd never have had the 2018 prequel if it wasn't for its 2010 predecessor.

We also can't forget the OG that was Red Dead Revolver, however, it was with Red Dead Redemption that Rockstar found its niche with this Wild West version of GTA. We don't care what anyone says, John Marston is one of the best video game characters of all time, so to see what he'd look like with a next-gen remodelling is an opportunity that's almost too tempting.

While we're usually caught up in GTA 6 rumours, it's time for a change of pace. To really get tongues wagging, the latest rumours also suggest a Red Dead Redemption remaster could be just around the corner.

Red Dead Redemption remaster: What's the leak?

Posting on Reddit, u/CZ_835 pointed to a Google search for Red Dead Redemption remastered. The results turned up an Amazon listing for the game, listing a December 10 release date and a price tag of $49.99. The battle of the next-gen consoles is well and truly upon us as the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 lock horns. Over at Sony, we've already seen Insomniac Games release a remaster of Marvel's Spider-Man, while a remaster of RDR would also be a major selling point for both consoles.

Back in the day, Red Dead Redemption was one of the most expensive video games ever made, so we dread to think how much money Rockstar would've ploughed into a remaster. That being said, it seems strange that we've heard literally nothing about a remaster, only for it to suddenly drop next month.

Importantly, December 10 is the date of this year's Game Awards, which could work in favour of or against a RDR remaster. Added to this, would Rockstar really go head-to-head with CD Projekt Red? December 10 is an important date for all as it's when Cyberpunk 2077 is finally going to be released.

Red Dead Redemption remaster: is it legitimate?

Ultimately, there are more holes than Swiss cheese in this one. Firstly, clicking the link takes you to a generic Amazon landing page instead of an actual Red Ded Redemption remaster listing. Added to this, Rockstar games doesn't exactly have the best track record with rumours. Considering its games are so beloved, it stands to reason that trolls want to trick us by making up rumours.

Only recently, we've seen a plethora of "leaks" about Grand Theft Auto 6 - with almost all of them being debunked. That being said, having a reputable retailer like Amazon behind the latest reveal definitely adds to the legitimacy of this one.

Also, let's remember we've been here before. Ever since Red Dead Redemption 2 came out, there have been continued whispers of an OG remaster. None of them have amounted to anything, so are we really going to buy this latest rumour until the Red Dead Redemption remaster is actually in our hands? Also, we demand to know, would this come with Undead Nightmare bundled in? We can only hope!
