Two gigantic heavyweights have collided when it comes to the next-generation of consoles. Constantly trading blows to each other with new and improved perks and software, the PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X are entering the 12th round and look as if the PS5 has just landed a huge uppercut.

The PS5 teardown video gave us a close up to the inside of the console, adjacent with many stats regarding the performance of the drives. Vice President of Mechanical Design at Sony Interactive Entertainment's hardware design division, Yasuhiro Ootori, delved into the console to discuss each of its "dramatic" improvements from the PS4, with a focus on the speed and efficiency of the console.

When discussing the WiFi and USB ports, it has been revealed that the PS5 outshines the Xbox Series X, proving a deciding factor for some people.

It was revealed that the PS5 supports the state of the art WiFi 6 Standard, which allows for a maximum speed of 9.6 Gigabytes per second. In comparison, the Xbox Series X supports WiFi standard five, which allows for a maximum of 3.5 Gbps, less than half the amount of the PlayStation.

This doesn't mean that PlayStation players will automatically have better WiFi and servers in games, as this also depends on the WiFi that the individual's players have available. It will only affect those who have the expensive WiFi 6 routers from their broadband suppliers, although in the future this may become more common.

As for the USB ports, this is where transfer speed comes in to play. It is less important than WiFi, as consoles seldom rely on USB transfers, however, it may benefit streamers looking to export clips from their hard drives. It also affects external hard drives and the speed that games stored on these can be loaded on. The PS5 offers a 10 Gbps speed on the USB-C Port, whereas the Xbox Series X has the standard USB-A ports offering half of the upload speed.

If you're a fanatic of technology, this may sway your vote towards the PS5, with so many contributing factors for each side swaying different gamers.
