There's more unwanted press for Imane "Pokimane" Anys as the superstar streamer has found herself caught in the midst of transphobia accusations. Anys is one of the most popular female streamers out there and has made her name rising through the ranks of Twitch playing the likes of League of LegendsFortnite, and more recently, Among Us

Anys has an exclusive role in her Discord that is reserved just for women. To stop men getting in there or trolling, the area is kept a safe space for women by entry involving a voice chat to confirm your gender. An issue of potential Pokimane transphobia accusations was raised when a transgender woman tried to gain access and was denied by a moderator. Although she appealed, the moderator ended up having her banned, then threw the blame Pokimane's way.

Pokimane transphobia accusations: What happened?

When the trans woman highlighted the disagreement on social media, it soon blew up with people calling Anys a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist). The phrase has been used a lot in 2020, and now, there are those who've branded Pokimane with the label. The 24-year-old was quick to limit damage and speak out to categorically deny claims she's in any way transphobic.

Discussing inclusivity on Twitter, Anys reiterated, "I'm looking into this with said mod / proof of the conversation that was held between them + will contact SHSLChris directly to resolve this and to assure she is welcomed properly.

"Anyone in my community should be welcomed with open arms no matter what gender/sexuality, and I’m so sorry if anyone was made to feel otherwise, especially by a mod. That is not okay, and I’ll make sure it’s properly handled".

As for the moderator involved, Pokimane continued, "Furthermore, I’ve unmodded the person in question. Again, I’m so sorry for this interaction, as it is not something I reinforce/a rule of mine, and is far from representative of my personal opinions, as I truly support the trans community".

Anys implies that the moderator acted independently of her own rules and confirmed they've been unmodded. Namely, she was keen to clarify she's very much in support of the trans community and wants people of all identities to feel welcome on her Discord. With these Pokimane transphobia accusations coming in the wake of her reported feud with Federico "Fedmyster" Gaytan, she's had a run of back luck recently. Hopefully, she can put this all behind her.
