Season 2 Reloaded of Modern Warfare 3 is upon us, and while there's a new Killstreak, Field Upgrade, and weapons, it's the crossovers that are making the headlines.

Dune and Warhammer 40k are the stars of the show collaboration-wise, but the unexpected return of Godzilla x Kong has caught fans off-guard. While the skin has been praised for looking "awesome," this isn't the first time this franchise has entered the CoD universe.

Godzilla was also introduced as an Operator back in Vanguard, and Call of Duty fans are getting terrifying "flashbacks" to what is considered one of the worst games in the series.

For those who don't remember, this isn't Kong and Godzilla's first time in Call of Duty multiplayer, with the primate and giant lizard also causing chaos back in Vanguard.

While their return may be exciting for some, it's also leading to "flashbacks" from other fans who hated the last WW2 game in the CoD series. A mediocre multiplayer, underwhelming campaign, and absurdly poor Zombies experience mean Vanguard consistently ranks as one of the worst titles in players' eyes.

Not only that, some players are frustrated they have to buy the bundle again, arguing they "had that in Vanguard, now I need to buy it again." It's worth noting that the designs are very different, with MW3's version combining Godzilla and Kong together to make a single Operator.

Terrifying memories of Vanguard aside, the skin itself is getting a lot of praise from the community who overall think it looks "awesome."

"Oh, these are a lot better than the last ones, and now they will take my money so I can be a robotic-looking military ape," said one user, with another claiming, "Probably one of the only operator skins I’m interested in buying."

On the whole, the collabs in Season 2 Reloaded are set to go down a treat with fans, which likely means more high-profile crossovers are on the cards for the future.
