Halo Infinite’s launch is incredibly long-awaited. We’ve had some other modern Halo releases over the last decade, but this one just feels different, doesn’t it?

The next-gen title is likely to set a standard for next-gen online multiplayer games, once again taking on the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield for FPS supremacy. The campaign, free-to-play multiplayer, and supposed battle royale mode are all set to make the ultimate Halo experience - but the game needs to come out first. Which is the trouble.

A release date for Halo Infinite is still yet to appear, with a ‘holiday 2021’ placeholder barely filling the gap. But, according to a new leak from Microsoft itself, our time of limbo may finally be over.

Microsoft Store Leaks Halo Infinite Release Date

Halo Infinite Release Date Leaked By Microsoft

It has been reported by Aggiornamenti Lumia that the Microsoft Store has been changed to reflect a new release date for the upcoming and highly anticipated Halo Infinite. The listing now suggests that the game is set to release on December 8 2021, just scraping in for the holiday.

This might not seem like much as it could be deemed a placeholder date, however, it has been confirmed by the same publication that a placeholder date has been on the Halo Infinite store listing since August 26 2020, and that the listing had only changed a few hours ago from the time of writing.

What Does This Mean For Halo Infinite?

The chances are that now the release date has leaked on the Microsoft store, that we’ll get some kind of official announcement over the next week or so. The game was almost pushed back as a result of the hard work put into campaign co-op and Forge mode, and while thankfully the full game isn’t yet announced to be pushed back, the suggestion of some parts not being finished has led some fans to worry.

A full Halo Infinite release date announcement would be valuable to 343 Industries and Microsoft alike, so it makes sense for it to come about now. Either way, we’re glad to have a look at when we could actually get our hands on the game, and it’s made the excitement around Infinitie even more palpable. Roll on December (8?) and we’ll see you in the field.
