Update Jan 19 - Behaviour Interactive has confirmed Leatherface is staying in Dead by Daylight and said the following: "Thank you for taking the time to address the rumours about Leatherface leaving our game.

"I am glad to share with you that The Cannibal is indeed staying a part of the Dead by Daylight Experience. He’s hooked on us! Don’t hesitate to reach out to us at any time to corroborate news. See you in The Fog!"

Uh oh, someone should get Leatherface some WD-40 for his chainsaw because it sounds a little rusted. Could the legendary villain of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre be given the boot from Dead by Daylight?

Behaviour Interactive's asymmetric horror has been on an upward trajectory since its 2016 debut, but these days, it's largely known for its real-life horror crossovers with everything from Stranger Things to Saw.

Is Leatherface Leaving Dead By Daylight?

Leatherface has faced plenty of controversy since his introduction to Dead by Daylight in 2017. Alongside accusations he can get easy kills by camping, there have been several controversies surrounding the character's associated cosmetics.

This could be a thing of the past, as Twitter user DbdNewsReal claims there's new code in the Public Test Build that hints at Leatherface's imminent removal. The code is only available to those who don't have the Leatherface DLC but has his perks referred to by alternate names.

It apparently comes from the fact Leatherface's perks will be given to other Killers - similar to how the perks for Stranger Things' Steve, Nancy, and the Demogorgon were given to other characters when they were pulled last year.

Even though it's unclear why DbD might've lost the licence to Leatherface, let's remember Sumo Digital is getting ready to release its The Texas Chainsaw Massacre asymmetrical horror game

Who Could Replace Leatherface In Dead By Daylight?

Still, with one down, it gives us room to add another big name from horror to the mix. Despite Dead by Daylight's impressive roster of horror legends, there are continued calls for the likes of Chucky, Pennywise, and Candyman.

Also, what about those Annabelle rumours? If this is the way we're going, what happens when someone makes another version of Friday the 13th: The Game or someone puts Freddy Krueger in a mythical A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Game?

Don't be too down, because if you already owned Leatherface and his DLC, he won't be completely removed from the game. Just like the removal of Stranger Things, it's only from the store.

With Dead by Daylight heading into its seventh year, we're excited to see what Behaviour will bring to the horror house next. For the time being, get ready for one final faceoff with Leatherface.
