KFC Gaming Trolls Cyberpunk 2077 Delay On Twitter

KFC is flapping its wings with joy and sticking CD Projekt in the deep fat fryer by poking fun at the ongoing delays with Cyberpunk 2077. It seems like an eternity since Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced (it's actually been eight years), and although the release is just around the corner, some of us are convinced we'll never seep the futuristic open world juggernaut.

The gaming world is caught in the midst of the next-gen war as Microsoft and Sony go head-to-head with the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Those clever elves running the KFC Gaming Twitter have their finger on the pulse and have offered up their own version with the KFConsole. Killing two birds with one stone, the fried chicken emporium has taken a leaf out of CD Projekt's book and replicated that now-iconic Cyberpunk 2077 delay tweet.

In this brilliant rip off of CD Projekt's Cyberpunk 2077 delay message, it looks like KFC Gaming has used the exact same template apart from swapping yellow for red. A particular highlight is the line, "The biggest challenge for us right now is creating a literal console that warms chicken" in homage to CD Projekt's struggle to optimise Cyberpunk 2077 for PC, current, and next-gen. It's a clever way to promote the fictional KFConsole that was first announced as a PS5 and Xbox Series X competitor back in June.

This isn't the first time KFC has joined the great gaming debate. In October, the company launched a competition where fans had the chance to win a KFC-themed Xbox Series X that also comes with its own chicken-inspired controller. With reports of consoles overheating and the Xbox Series X (smoking), it's no surprise KFC has delayed its own console for safety concerns. Maybe fried chicken and gaming just aren't meant to be partners?

As it stands, there's an achingly long wait until December 10 when Cyberpunk 2077 will (apparently) be ready to launch. Still, what're another few weeks when we've already had to wait so long? Interestingly, there are reports that Cyberpunk 2077 was actually ready to launch on PC when CD Projekt spectacularly pulled the rug from underneath us all. Co-CEO of CD Projekt, Adam Kicinski, said it was the Google Stadia and console versions causing issues. This is even more frustrating for PC players.

Worryingly, there are scandalous rumours that Cyberpunk 2077 could've delayed again into 2021. We're not buying it, but in a year that's been as catastrophic as 2020, we won't know what to think until a copy of the game is actually in our hands. With KFC's response, there are theories it's working with CD Projekt on a tie-in with Cyberpunk 2077, but either way, there's no denying KFC Gaming is finger lickin' good and dishing out the insults.
