While the recent war between Epic Games and Apple looks like it won't end well for either side, now is a confusing time to be a Fortnite player. New rumours suggest that since Apple pulled Fortnite from its storefront, iPads that are already loaded with the game are going for a small fortune.

Epic decided to try and circumnavigate Apple's 30% cut by bypassing the App Store and telling players to buy their V-Bucks directly from Epic. The developer has also launched a lawsuit against Apple and its structure of taking money from developers.

In response to this, Apple pulled Fortnite from the App Store and left a supersized hole in its charts. With the future of Fortnite on iOS hanging in the balance, hold your horses before you delete the app.

According to Wccftech, eBay user alemccra7 is trying to shift a Fortnite-loaded iPad 7 for $900. The reason for this jaw-dropping price tag is the fact anyone who buys a new iPad from Apple won't be able to download Fortnite. Doing some savvy shopping, the iPad 7 can be picked up for around $299, making the eBay one three times the price. Putting it in context, even the new 11-inch iPad Pro can be bought for less than alemccra7's Fortnite version.

There is a warning as well. No one is currently sure what's going to happen to Fortnite and whether it will continue to work on old models. Imagine spending $900 on your fancy Fortnite iPad, only to boot it up and find the game won't work. Fans have already been told they'll be allowed to continue playing for the foreseeable but won't get an update when Chapter 2: Season 4 eventually drops.

Epic has also said it can't refund any money to those who've splashed their cash on Fortnite iOS, and has asked players to appeal to Apple Support directly. The company has continued to push Fortnite on other platforms, but for many, that's simply not good enough.

Even though it looks like this feud could continue to escalate, that hasn't stopped Epic Games from taunting Apple. The developer and publisher just dropped a pointed commercial that poked fun at Apple's legendary "1984" advert. It's clear that Epic has no intention of backing down, but this being Apple, we don't imagine the tech giant does either.

If you were planning on wiping that old iPad and trading it in at Cash Converters, you might want to rethink that plan and stick it on eBay instead.
