Dubbed as the 'CEO' of Apex Legends by fans, Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen is stepping away from the game to focus on his mental health, as well as asking developers to fix the state of the title he's dedicated his adulthood to.
ImperialHal is Apex Legend's greatest player of all time for many, and currently sits as the reigning ALGS champion - having won the Split 1 Playoffs in London with TSM.
However, amid a range of problems with the Ranked playlist, audio issues, and a cheater influx, the CEO has been forced away from the game to allow for his mental health to recover.
ImperialHal steps away from Apex Legends
Despite the professional Apex Legends season still being in full swing - and the Split 2 Playoffs on the horizon in June - ImperialHal has said that he "will be playing very little Apex going forward".
"I think I'm at an all time low with my mental with having to deal with the state of Apex + performance is not helping either," he said on Twitter.
The pro player has been heavily critical of Apex in recent weeks, slamming the developers for neglecting audio issues for too long, and taking a hit at the pro series organisers for a lack of support.
Apex Legends pros are being turned away from the game
The recent Major winner isn't the only player to take issue with the game in recent weeks either, as his main friend-slash-rival, Christopher "sweetdreams" Sexton, also slammed the state of Apex Legends, amid visual and audio cues not working and a broken meta.
ImperialHal was joined by many other players in his criticism of Apex on his step-back tweet, with ex-Cloud9 player Paris "StayNaughty" Gouzoulis saying, "Realm is god awful quality and scrims are the epitome of competitive apex right now."
"Sadly, this game is dying. in every aspect as well. I'm done saying 'next season will be the best one'."
Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff has been assigned as the step-in CEO in ImperialHal's absence, but it continues to be a scary time for Apex Legends pros as even the greatest player ever cannot bare the meta and broken quirks anymore.
