For some time now, Apex Legends has been plagued with audio issues. Whether it be misdirected footsteps, overly loud combat resulting in third parties, or even silent sound cues being drowned out by other background noise, audio is one of Apex's biggest problems...aside from hackers.

Now though, it seems the team at Respawn Entertainment are finally pulling their fingers out, as popular streamer Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff has claimed the developers are undergoing some key fixes.

NICKMERCS assures Apex Legends devs are fixing audio issues

Recent clips from professional Apex Legends player Christopher "sweetdreams" Sexton highlighted some "unplayable" audio issues for Apex Legends, with bullet noise and footsteps both missing.

Now, NICKMERCS claims this is being fixed, taking to his stream to defend Respawn Entertainment in a rare occurrence.

The streamer read out a statement from Respawn that was apparently sent to him. It reads, "Regarding the audio drops, this is definitely a unique and difficult issue to investigate, the Apex team has been looking into it for some time now as a top priority."

Respawn asks pros to help with Apex Legends audio issues

"We are trying to work with pros to get their audio telemetry for analysis," continued NICKMERCS, whose recent grind with Tripods has seen him be regarded as quite a well-regarded pro in the scene.

The statement provided to Kolcheff explained that the developers have faced struggles with multiple frequencies in the same game, but they believe that they are on the right track to fixing this with help from professional players.

The issues would be put to the test better in a game containing pro players, given that they are likely to stay alive longer and provide a better sample of frequencies in a lobby. This should allow the developers to properly embed audio cues up close and in the background, all of which are key to players' performance.

At the very least, it's good that Respawn acknowledges the issue. We hope a fix for Apex Legends' abysmal audio is on the way soon, but until we hear it, we'll remain cautious.
