As the issues with Apex Legends Ranked continue to mount and are vocally scrutinised by players, Season 17 was supposed to be one of the most definitive updates yet.

Although Ranked is the pillar stone of Apex Legends, with the competitive side of things being the system that keeps player retention so high, the playlist has not yet been fixed.

Now, the fan-proclaimed 'CEO' of Apex, Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen, has taken another jab at the product, as Apex Legends' Ranked distribution is in its worst state yet.

Apex Legends Ranked distribution is slammed by ImperialHal

After taking a substantial step back away from Apex Legends - aside from Scrims for the ALGS reigning champions TSM - ImperialHal has still been expressing his concern for the title on multiple occasions.

This time though, he's come armed with data and stats, as he's found the Apex Legends Ranked distribution is in dire straights. According to Dosen, 200,000 players have achieved Masters Rank, which is ten times the amount than in previous splits.

The Apex legend took to Twitter to say, "After 4 Years of playing now I understand why all the previous content creators have left the game with what they’ve been stuck with all this time."

To put it into perspective, more players currently sit in Masters (the highest Rank) than in any division in Diamond, Platinum, and Gold, with only Silver, Bronze, and Rookie being more densely populated.

ImperialHal slams counterintuitive Apex Legends Ranked distribution

While allowing more players to be tricked into thinking they are at the pinnacle of Apex Legends might lead to player retention levels being higher on the face of things, ImperialHal has actually claimed that this is very counterintuitive.

"It's very temporary player retention," he said. "I believe that the majority of the player base will eventually hit Masters and the player base will fall off a cliff all at once since there’s no more purpose from then on."

With Hal still taking a break from casual grinds on Apex Legends, more and more players might continue to follow this drop-off if Respawn doesn't come out swinging with a huge overhaul in Season 18 in August.
