Crossplay has been a feature in Apex Legends ever since the release of the game on Nintendo Switch back in March 2021, to a mixed reception. It took some time for crossplay to make its way to the Respawn Entertainment battle royale, but now players can play together on all platforms including Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

While some Apex players were happy with the feature, and the opportunity to play with their cross-platform friends, others have found the change challenging, being bested by PC players on console in particular. Meanwhile, PC players have expressed concerns that the console aim-assist feature is unfair to them. So, how do you turn off crossplay in Apex Legends to ensure a balanced match?

How to disable Apex Legends crossplay

There are only a few easy steps to turn off crossplay in Apex Legends, but beware, matchmaking times may increase due to this, as you can only be matched with other players on your platform who also have crossplay turned off.

  1. Start up Apex Legends on your preferred platform
  2. Navigate to Settings
  3. Scroll down until you see ‘Cross Platform Play’
  4. Switch it to ‘Disabled’ to turn it off

Remember, you can always revert it to ‘Enabled’ to turn it back on.

While some love crossplay and the interconnectivity it brings to Apex Legends; others despite it, and would rather be matchmade into lobbies with those of their same platform, and enjoy a more balanced experience.

Following the steps above will guarantee you are only placed into lobbies with those playing on your platform, so go out there and nab some Apex Champion titles!
