GTA 6 hyped as the most important gaming release of all time
It's clear as day to anyone who's spent any time in the gaming industry that the next Grand Theft Auto is going to be a big deal. Call it an understatement if you like. GTA 6 is set to land with a serious splash, especially after the raucous success of GTA V and GTA Online, elevating the even-then-iconic franchise to industry-dominating heights.
The first GTA 6 trailer is among one of the most anticipated events in gaming history, and looking to the future at the launch of the game, there's little doubt that GTA is about to level up further than we could ever have imagined. No pressure or anything. It's not just us that expect big things, as one analyst has made a lofty (but reasonable) claim.
Analyst claims GTA 6 will have the biggest game launch ever
We can't blame them, to be honest. Gaming industry analyst Mat Piscatella has shared his opinions about the future of the video game industry. Piscatella has suggested that GTA 6 is about to cause a ripple effect through the admittedly shaky industry as it stands.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Piscatella said of the industry: "We're going to get a renewed batch of interest with GTA 6 in particular," adding that "there's probably never been a more important thing to ever release in the industry, so no pressure."
With 2024 already being surprisingly dominated by under-the-radar games like Palworld and Helldivers 2, there aren't too many major releases ahead. This leaves all eyes on GTA 6's 2025 release. It all comes after the analyst suggested that industry spending is likely to dip soon. And frankly, he might not be far off.
GTA 6 is likely to be a shock to gaming's system
It's an accurate assumption to make, after all, as layoffs strike the industry and interest in games plateau while fans get sick of the live-service churn, morale is substantially down. GTA 6 is going to be a big deal, and it's clear to see why it's not just fans getting excited.
Even those who haven't got involved with this generation of consoles yet are going to be leaping at a new PS5 or Xbox Series in order to try out the next instalment in the crime sim. We can pretty much guarantee GTA 6 is going to be a financial success the likes of which we’ve never seen.
Even by Rockstar's standards, it could have pretty big payouts to look forward to. Either that or GTA 6 could be a financial failure for the ages and tank the whole gaming industry at the same time. Fingers crossed it's the former.
