Although GTA 6 was leaked years before it was made official, that doesn't take away from us all remembering where we were when that first trailer dropped. Leakers got there early, but still, December 5, 2023, will go down in history as a gaming moment for the ages - all set to Tom Petty's "Love Is A Long Road".

The road to GTA 6 has definitely been a long one, and it's set to be a little longer yet. Rockstar Games gave us a tantalising tease when the first trailer rounded off with simple confirmation that GTA 6 is coming in 2025. While some were disappointed we didn't get a more precise release date, it gives the team a little wiggle room.

Rockstar Games' hiring gives new hope to early GTA 6 release

There were some worrying reports that GTA 6 could be pushed into 2026, but Take-Two Interactive is keen to assure us the game is still coming next year. 12 months is a pretty big window for GTA 6 to fit into, but now, a new Rockstar Games job listing hints the automotive adventure could be out sooner than expected.

As pointed out on the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit, Rockstar is currently looking for a Localisation Tester, specializing in Russian. The position is a 12-month fixed contract, leading to speculation that GTA 6 will release before that contract comes to an end. In theory, GTA 6 could be out before March 2025.

As localisation tends to be a process that comes toward the end of a game's development, hopeful gamers are already cheering that the game will be out sooner than we expected. We've also heard about a mythical PS5 Pro being saved for GTA 6's launch, so the stars might be aligning on this one.

The idea that we could have to wait another 20 months for GTA 6 is one that fills us with dread, but it's one that's possible. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has already warned the title is aiming for 'perfection' and won't be released until ready, so we'll hopefully avoid a Cyberpunk 2077 situation.

Even if things are on track for a 2025 release, we've seen things change a million times before. Delays are becoming commonplace with AAA titles, as the likes of Hogwarts Legacy and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will tell you.

There are swirling rumours that a second trailer is on the way soon, but Rockstar would be wise to stick with a vague 2025 instead of locking in a specific month. Although we'll remain optimistic for now, we're still a way from climbing the criminal ladder in a modernised Vice City.
