There's been a scandal in Fortnite as the latest round of the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) was an unmitigated disaster for "Waffles" when he was banned for seemingly being caught in one of the games glitches.

We only just covered how motorboats have been banned due to a waterfall problem in Coral Castle, but now, the issue has reared its head again. When Waffles eliminated one cheating player who'd used the hack to fill their inventory with crash pads, they dropped their items. Waffles decided to investigate (like most of you would) and even laughed with his friends.

As Waffles picked up the crash pads, his inventory was then filled with them and he wasn't able to carry any guns. Waffles amazingly made his way through the game simply by leaping around and eventually finished in third.

Still, those at the top of Epic Games said he cheated and promptly gave him a Fortnite ban.

Waffles himself posted on Twitter and said, "What a sh*tty way to end my comp career thanks for all the good memories". He shared a message from Epic Games Player Support where it was confirmed his ban won't be lifted.

Although Waffles has plenty of support, some questioned why he didn't bow out when he realised he was glitching. He later posted a follow-up tweet and gave his reasoning for why he didn't just back out of the game when he encountered the glitch.

Even though Waffles isn't the most notable name in the world of Fortnite, this isn't the first time he's been caught in a cheating controversy. Back in Chapter 2, Season 2, Waffles and FaZe Clan's Dubs were both banned for 30 days when they were convicted of colluding together in the Solo Cash Cup Tournament.

The tables quickly turned with this latest debacle, and it looks like Waffles is genuinely a victim in this situation.

Waffles has been pretty vocal about the whole thing and is clearly pretty annoyed. As for Epic, it said AntyCheat picked up the situation and gave the following response: "We strive to ensure the integrity of our competitive events remains intact during competition.

As a result, competitive matchmaking bans are issued when we detect a player violating the rules of the event.

"Depending on the severity of your actions the length of the ban may vary. You were banned for cheating during a competition. While we understand you would like us to remove this ban Epic Games Player Support is unable to".

In general FNCS was grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons. As well as players complaining soft-aim hacks are becoming a continuing problem, the Fortnite servers are continuously degrading with every tournament - reportedly to an unplayable level. While there were plenty of problems with FNCS, the Waffles incident was easily the biggest talking point.
