With the cyclical nature of Fortnite's weapons, both from chapter to chapter and season to season, there are an awful lot of weapons that have left the game that players still adore.

Weapons come and go in the game, and it's all a part of the way it continues to shift and remain fresh - so every update brings with it the promise of a new boomstick that could become a fan-favourite... or a tedious distraction.

And now, it looks like a super-powerful weapon could be coming to Fortnite that shifts the meta completely.

Leakers Hint At One-Shot Kill Shotgun In Fortnite

According to some leakers, it looks like a new shotgun that can take a player out with a single shot could be arriving in Fortnite soon. It's a scary prospect, as it means that the sweatiest of players could be dispatching you incredibly quickly, and its impact could truly shift the meta of the game.

The report first came from reputable leaker Shiina, who has suggested that they heard through the grapevine that the shotgun was on the way.

"Not sure if this is still accurate, but a while ago I heard that there will be a shotgun in this season that can eliminate players with one shot again," they said. "As I said, information might be outdated by now, so don't take that as confirmation." Interesting.

This could be big for the game - but this isn't the first time that shotguns could do such whopping damage.

Shotguns Have Had One-Shot Kills In The Past

Fortnite has a past of shotguns that can dish out some serious damage, with many of them in the higher tiers of rarity possessing the capability to take a foe down with a single blast if close enough.

It's not uncommon for the game - many still fondly remember the early 'pump shotgun' days - but it's been a while since such lethality has been in the game and its return could signal that Fortnite is returning to its roots somewhat.

Fortnite has long been considered too sweaty with those adept at cranking 90s and stealing walls long dominating the battle royale, we recently got the no-build mode, could this new one-shot shotgun signal a return to a simpler time? We'll need to wait and see.
