Fortnite released its new racing mode, Rocket Racing, on 8 December alongside several bundles of cars which could be used inside the game.
However the high price of these items left many player’s severely disappointed, resulting in Epic Games lowering the price in the Fortnite store.
Player’s were unhappy with the cost of cars in Fortnite
In partnership with Rocket League developer Psyonix, Epic Games’ recent racing addition to Fortnite has been fairly well received.
One thing that has repeatedly been brought up negatively, however, is the cost of the cars which can be purchased using V-Bucks in-game.
A new car skin is priced at 4000 V-Bucks which, thanks to the denominations that V-Bucks are sold in, comes in at almost £30.
Several players called out the high price, saying: “The jäger on Rocket League cost like 50 credits, which was worth less than £1. They’re making you pay £20 for something you could have traded for last week. Absolute rip off.”
Another said: “I like the car skins but holy shit I’m not spending $40 on a skin for a car skin I’ll use mostly in BR.”
Fortnite has adjusted the cost of cars after complaints
Epic Games has clearly taken people’s feedback on board, as just days after Rocket Racing mode went live, they lowered the pricing of cars.
In a post on Twitter, the Epic Games team wrote: “U-turn ahead - We just fine-tuned our car prices!”
The team lowered the more expensive Diesel bundle from 4000 to 2500 V-Bucks.
Similarly, the Jager and Cyclone bundles were lowered from 2500 to 1500 V-Bucks.
On top of the price change, Epic Games has stated that anyone who purchased a bundle at the previous price will receive a refund of the price difference within a week.
While the cars are still fairly expensive, it is nice to see that the Fortnite team is clearly listening to it’s players.
