Epic Games has delivered an excellent winter update every year dating back to 2017 when Fortnite first released. In 2018, it was the 14 Days of Fortnite. Last year we had the Winterfest Cabin with tons of free gifts and other festivities. This year is shaping up to be no different. New winter-themed challenges, map features, and more have already started to leak in.

For many, the most exciting part of this whole experience is the cosmetics. The holidays allow Fortnite artists to craft up all kinds of special seasonal cosmetics. Some of these end up underwhelming while others are so good they see usage throughout the entire year.

So which winter-themed cosmetics are must-buys and which are hard passes? Our Fortnite Holiday Cosmetic Guide answers that question for you. We sorted through every holiday cosmetic from the past four years to determine the cream of the crop in terms of festive spirit. Follow along as we list our favourite festive cosmetics.

Outfits

Gingerbread Raider

The most sought after skin in all of Fortnite is back with a new look. Gingerbread Raider is a reskin of Renegade Raider, THE OG Fortnite skin. This summer, Blaze, another Renegade Raider reskin was released. For the holidays, Renegade Raider returns in gingerbread-themed attire.

Grab a piece of Fortnite history with the Gingerbread Brigade set scheduled for release this holiday season.

Fa-La-La-La Fishstick

Everyone’s favourite Fortnite icon, Fishstick, is back with yet another reskin. Fishstick has been restyled and reskinned more than any other skin in the game. For Christmas, Fortnite players will have the option to purchase Fa-La-La-La Fishstick. This variation of Fishstick has him looking like one of Santa’s elves. The highlight of this outfit is the animated Christmas tree hat on Fishstick’s head.

This is the perfect skin for any Fishstick fanatic looking to dress up in the holiday spirit.

Krampus

The only Legendary item on this list, Krampus is a skin for those with deep pockets. Krampus is based on the figure from Central European folklore. Krampus is an anthropomorphic half-goat, half-demon figure known for punishing misbehaving children during the Christmas holiday.

Krampus was originally released in Fortnite during the 2018 holiday season. Leakers have revealed that Krampus is set to reappear in the Item Shop during Winterfest 2020.

It’s rare to see an evil, villainous skin around the holiday season. If Krampus is your style, make sure to grab the blue-tongued devil before he’s gone for good.

Codename E.L.F.

Codename E.L.F. was one of the OG Christmas skins released back in 2017. Codename E.LF. gained notoriety when it was one of the few Christmas skins to not return in 2018. This meant Codename E.L.F. was one of the rarest and most valuable skins in all of Fortnite.

Two years later, Codename E.LF. returned to the Polar Legends pack. Codename E.L.F. was granted a new “Mint” style option. This year, Codename E.L.F. will receive a third style option called “H.E.L.P.E.R.” This new style seems to resemble Hermey, the misfit elf from the famous Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer television special.

For a mere 1,200 V-Bucks, players can grab a skin with three styles and a history as one of the most desired cosmetics in Fortnite.

Lt. Evergreen

Lt. Evergreen was the first free skin ever released in Fortnite. Lt. Evergreen was a key feature of Winterfest 2019. Fortnite players received a free gift every day for 14 days over the Christmas holiday. In the Winterfest lobby, a Christmas tree sat in the corner of the room. Upon inspection, that tree was actually the Lt. Evergreen skin. Selecting the tree would unlock Lt. Evergreen for free along with the built-in Light Up emote.

Lt. Evergreen may not return in 2020. But for those that have this skin unlocked, Lt. Evergreen is a perfect representation of the Christmas holiday.

Harvesting Tools

Merry Mint Axe

The Merry Mint Axe is one of the most exclusive items in all of Fortnite. The Merry Mint Axe is only obtainable via a redeemable code. Players must purchase a Fortnite licensed product from either GameStop or Target to obtain a code. Because of this, the Merry Mint Axe is extremely limited and rare.

The Merry Mint Axe is ideal for flexing on your opponents while celebrating the holiday season.

Merry Munchkin

Merry Munchkin was given away for free during the 14 Days of Fortnite event. The talking, animated gingerbread man is nothing short of entertaining. Pair Merry Munchkin with Gingerbread Raider for the ultimate combo.

Gliders

Krampus’ Little Helper

Krampus’s personal glider is one of the best gliders in the game, regardless of seasonality. This glider comes in the form of a demonic reindeer known as Krampus’ Little Helper. Be warned, Krampus’ Little Helper is not very merry. Only purchase this glider if you’re looking to ruin Christmas like the Grinch.
