Fortnite's new third chapter has been a treat so far. Revealing an entirely new map and moving over to Unreal Engine 5 with a whole host of abilities, weapons, and more - it's a lot.

Fans would be forgiven for reacting poorly to such a massive change to the battle royale favourite, but thankfully, most are loving all of the new features. Many agree on the arrival of all-new systems that have helped to keep the game fresh.

Even though there are a lot of features (like sliding) to get your head around in-game, fans think they've seen it all already. They might be wrong though, as a potentially unintentional feature has been revealed.

Can Fortnite Players Heal Themselves While Downed?

As it turns out, being downed might not be as deadly as it seems in Fortnite Chapter 3. One player has discovered that it's possible to heal yourself and refresh your death timer once you've been downed.

It turns out that as long as you can limp over to a healing station, you can access the machine to receive a patch-up as long as you have enough gold to buy it. It'll refresh your health timer, giving your teammates more of a chance to finish their fights and come to pick you up.

As it turns out, though it hasn't yet been captured in a video, downed players are now inexplicably able to use ziplines to traverse the map while downed, as well as open doors as ever.

These are new features that have flown entirely under the radar, and we likely wouldn't know about them if it weren't for Reddit. Still, it's nice that downed players are getting some more freedom.

There's nothing more frustrating when you're downed in the middle of a firefight and your squad gets to you just as the timer runs down. Yes, you can be rebooted, but losing your carefully selected arsenal and shields is a big kicker.

Going down often gives a feeling of helplessness in Fortnite especially, so it's good to see players are getting more options to scrape by death once again. Don't waste your second (second) chance!
