Epic Games could once again be squeezing into its skintight spandex for another comic book crossover, and this time, we're celebrating the marvellous mutants of the X-Men franchise. Charles Xavier's Gifted Youngsters have already popped up in Fortnite, but hot off the success of X-Men '97, they're poised for a return.

Fortnite always makes banks from its collabs, but up there with Star Wars, Marvel is one of its biggest earners. The lucrative Black Widow skin is currently one of the game's rarest, while we've seen everyone from Wolverine to Cable, Storm to Phoenix appear in-game.

Fortnite poised for another Marvel crossover

As reported by leakers like HYPEX, Fortnite could be prepping for another Fortnite crossover, this time to tie into X-Men '97. If the leaks are correct, we could be adding series staples of Jubilee, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Magneto to the mix.

Apparently, the crossover is coming on Tuesday, April 23, tying in with the Rocket League collab we previously reported on. The timing is interesting, especially as there are still four episodes left of X-Men '97. It might've been better timed to celebrate the end of the cartoon's first season.

Interestingly, the addition of Jean means we'd have two skins based on her. There's backlash that we'd have a base Jean Grey skin and the Dark Phoenix one. Given that there are so many other variants and there have been calls for an Old Man Logan skin, two Jeans does feel like overkill.

With the X-Men being one of the most popular teams in Marvel Comics, their inclusion in Fortnite was always going to be popular. Still, with their ranks being so large, there's some disappointment about the rumoured skins.

We know it would be a lot harder to introduce a Charles Xavier skin, but in terms of other members, the replies have come up with plenty of other ideas. One player said, "I really want an Emma Frost skin, I would love a Jean Grey skin but I technically already have it cause I have the Phoenix skin."

Another suggested, "I want Magik😭 One of the coolest and badass characters🤘🏼," and a third simply said, "Need Wolverine." Considering Wolverine is so popular, it's a shame that he doesn't have another skin variant - especially as Deadpool & Wolverine is releasing in June.

There are other whispers that we'll be getting another Marvel-themed season akin to Chapter 2 Season 4 later in the year, and while the Marvel Cinematic Universe is accused of suffering from franchise fatigue, we'd be more than happy to suit up for more Marvel madness in Fortnite.
