Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 has only been with us for a couple of days, and already, players are in two minds about it. Although any new content for the game is good news for many - and all some want from Fortnite is more Fortnite - others aren't so sure.

The introduction of the bizarre chrome goo that has begun to take over the island feels uninspired to many, and it's starting to indicate that the well of ideas for the game is running a little dry. Narrative directions aside, it's still Fortnite, as Epic Games continues to add new mechanical innovations - including one that is completely uprooting how the game's NPCs work.

What Changes Are There In Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4?

Among the new additions to Fortnite is a brand-new change that completely overhauls the way that NPCs work. This includes changing the way that they act when you hire them and effectively makes them like a whole extra member of your team.

Of the many NPCs in the game, some will offer you their services as a hired gun. Usually, they just follow you around and fire at what you do, but there's an entirely new menu added to the latest update that allows you to command them even further.

By holding the ping button, players can now instruct their NPC followers to hold their position, move to a commanded point, return to them and even revive them. It's a pretty big addition to the way NPCs work,  and will likely result in a lot more NPCs being hired. Especially in solo games, the idea of players getting a second chance with the revives is a major one.

Are More NPCs Coming To Fortnite?

Not only are NPCs having a full revamp, but according to one leaker, there's a new duo of characters set to come to the game as well. Leaker HYPEX has revealed on Twitter that two new NPCs are on the way, simply named Duke and Witch. We don't know who they are or where they'll appear, but hey - the more, the merrier, right?

NPCs might not have the intellect of another human player, but then again, some are likely better than a rogue teammate only looking out for themselves. Fortnite might not have impressed players with its latest big and substantial change to the title, but this is an update that is bound to overturn the way the game is played. We suggest you go and find some NPC followers before your enemies can.
