Epic Games Giving Away The Walking Dead Game For Free
Epic Games is back with more "bite", as its latest game giveaway puts The Walking Dead front and centre. Although Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's comic book first came out in 2003, it was The Walking Dead's 2010 TV debut that catapulted the franchise forward. Jump to 2021 and there's an expanded franchise of web series, board games, video games, and even films on the way.
While the wide world of The Walking Dead video games is largely remembered for Telltale's episodic title, let's remember the likes of Overkill's The Walking Dead, the Pokemon GO-inspired The Walking Dead: Our World, and a new release of The Walking Dead: Survivors.
Epic sadly isn't offering the Telltale games for nothing, however, The Walking Dead: Bridge Constructor promise to flex your brain cells.
What The Walking Dead game is Epic Games giving away?
For those who haven't heard of it, The Walking Dead: Bridge Constructor is a simulation puzzler from ClockStone Software. Taking the cast of AMC's hit series, Bride Constructor tasks you with (unsurprisingly) building bridges out there in the apocalypse to avoid hordes of hungry Walkers.
As a spin-off from ClockStone's Bridge Constructor series that first started in 2011, The Walking Dead: Bride Constructor puts the "likeness" of heroes like Daryl and Michonne into the game. We use the term likeness loosely, but for fans of either Bridge Constructor or TWD, it's great that it's coming for free.
The Walking Dead: Bridge Constructor launched last year on everything from PC to PlayStation, Xbox to mobile. Considering it usually costs $9.99/£7.99 on the Epic Games Store, you might as well try it out for free.
What else is Epic Games giving away for free?
If swinging a baseball bat for your best impression of Negan doesn't float your boat, the current crop of Epic giveaways is also offering up Dreadbit's turn-based strategy, Ironcast. First released in 2016, Ironcast is set in a Victorian steampunk era, where players take control of their own legion of mecha robots.
Ironcast is usually $14.99/£9.99 but will be free this week. There are a number of Ironcast DLCs also available, but be warned, none of them have been discounted in the Epic sale. You can download both games for free until July 15 - when they'll revert to their usual price. The good thing is, Epic's free games will remain in your catalogue even after the promotion ends. So, get downloading while you can!
