Epic Games is taking your rarest Fortnite skin
The Fortnite skin market isn't exactly competitive, but that certainly won't stop fans from trying to get their hands on the best cosmetics they can.
The Item Shop that the game has to offer is unpredictable, and you never know when it's going to spit out something that hasn't appeared in-game for a long time, so players stay glued to the title just in case they can find their holy grail (Editor's note: here's hoping the Destiny 2 skins return soon).
But it looks like there's one skin that Epic Games wants back.
Fans have found a way to buy a super-rare skin
A new exploit was discovered by players that allowed them to purchase the Rogue Agent skin, a cosmetic that hasn't appeared in the item shop since 2018. The skin was sold initially as part of a starter pack that hasn't been seen since it was pulled from the store - but fans are bagging it anyway.
Fans were buying a game on the Epic Games Store that issued fans with the skin (for some reason, as there is no reasonable affiliation between the title and the gift), and even though it was a more expensive transaction than the skin is reasonably worth, players were doing it for the flex. It's of no surprise, really, even though the skin is fairly standard.
But Epic Games is onto players - and it wants its goodies back.
Epic Games are taking back exploited skins
Though this is probably Epic Games' mistake and it should reasonably hold the L, players who have performed the exploit are getting notifications that reveal that the developer is taking the skin back.
"The following items have been removed from your account," says a notification on the game's lobby screen for those who have taken the skin as part of the exploit. "Reason: A payment made by this account was reversed or refunded."
The original reveal of the exploit stated that players should use it at their own risk, and it looks like that risk has come back to bite them. Just buy V-Bucks like everyone else, guys.
