Hogwarts Legacy is almost upon us, meaning the Wizarding World is losing its collective nut. It has been some time since a quality offering from the world of Harry Potter, and fans are hoping this romp around Hogwarts will be exactly what we've been waiting for.

Our Hogwarts Legacy preview shows off a game with immense potential, but players still won't have their answers until they can walk those hallowed halls. But, they might not be zapping their fellow students as much as they expected.

Elden Ring Has More Spells Than Hogwarts Legacy

Though you could easily make your way through Elden Ring without using a single spell, it turns out that the RPG actually houses more spells than Hogwarts Legacy

According to Twitter user SlowEstus, Hogwarts Legacy has only 26 spells, even though magic is kinda its whole deal. The game is incredibly expansive and packed with content, but it looks like that doesn't extend all the way to its spells.

It's a surprisingly slim number, but increasingly so when you compare it to Elden Ring, which gives you spells entirely optionally, and yet, still has 171 of them.

This is a pretty stark difference, and though the application of spells in Hogwarts Legacy may be different from those in Elden Ring, it's interesting to assess regardless.

Hogwarts Legacy Has 120 Hours Of Content

For fans worried about this lack of spells, there's clearly no need to panic - Gamereactor confirmed via an interview with Lead Designer Kelly Murphy that there's plenty to see and do.

"We are finding it is hard to put a number on, just based on play styles but for a first-time playthrough, if you just go through the mainline, you are looking at a 40-hour plus experience. If you decide that you want to do everything you are at over 100 hours, 120 hours probably."

Couple this with over 100 side quests to pull you away from your Potions of Divination classes, and it doesn't sound like we'll even have enough time to miss Quidditch

If there's this much to see, then it's safe to say there's a good reason that there are so few spells in Hogwarts Legacy. Still, at least we know the standard Unforgivable Curses will be back in action.
