A leaker has shared that a sequel to the popular RPG Hogwarts Legacy is already in the works.

Avalanche Software's instalment into the Harry Potter universe was a big success when it launched in February this year, so it is unsurprising that Warner Brothers has already started thinking about the future of the Wizarding World.

A Twitter leaker shared that a sequel is in the works

Twitter user MyTimeToShineH, who frequently shares leaks about movies, TV shows and games, shared that they had been told the sequel is in development. They wrote: "Sources confirmed that a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is in the works."

The post does not share any more information about the sequel, though this is not entirely surprising given that the first game was only released in February this year and is yet to make its Nintendo Switch debut.

Several of the account's followers commented that they are excited for a second game in the franchise, with some sharing improvements that could be made, places they would like to visit and that they hoped for a longer main questline.

A sequel to Hogwarts Legacy makes sense given its success

Given the success of Hogwarts Legacy, it would not be surprising for a sequel to be released at some point in the future.

In May, Hogwarts Legacy had sold 15 million copies worldwide, with 12 million of these being sold in the first two weeks of launch, and crossed $1 billion in total revenue.

The game has reportedly sold over 250% more than predicted and Gamesindustry.biz revealed in April that the game had already outsold LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Elden Ring: two of 2022’s best-selling games.

All of this is before the game is even available on Nintendo Switch, which is reportedly due to release in November 2023.
