Cyberpunk 2077 Delay Was Ready For PC Launch
With just a few weeks looming until the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt announced that the game will be delayed until December 10. The developers posted their sincere and humble apologies on Twitter before diving into the reasonings behind the delay, and the effect that working from home has had on the development.
Since the announcement, the developers have had to endure horrendous messages from dark corners of the gaming community, and have had to explain the reasons behind the delay to their investors. Within a call with their investors, the Co-CEO of CD Projekt, Adam Kicinski, claimed that it was the console and Google Stadia versions of the game which were haltering the launch, with the PC version all ready to go.
Kicinski stated: "First and foremost, on behalf of the whole board, I would like to offer an apology for breaking our promise and failing your trust. We underestimated the time required for the very final processes.
"The game is ready for the PC and runs great on the next-gen consoles, and could be shipped on the scheduled date on those platforms. However, even though the game has been certified on the current gens by both Sony and Microsoft, some very final optimisation processes for such a massive and complex game require a bit of additional time."
The highly-anticipated game was ready for it's November 19 release for both PC and the next-generation of consoles, but believed the current-gen console's performance would have been detrimental to the whole business being affected. Kicinski added, "having these extra three weeks will enable us to get more things ready to our satisfaction."
The release for Cyberpunk 2077 is now set for December 10, barring any further setbacks, which are now extremely unlikely with the eager fanbase.
