If you're losing track of how many The Witcher games there are coming out, being remade, or are just generally out there in the aether, get ready to be even more annoyed. According to CD Projekt Red itself, a new-gen remake of 2007's The Witcher

While most remember The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as one of the greatest games of all time, let's not forget that the OG version of The Witcher had to walk so Wild Hunt could run. In the 15 years since the first game came out, we've seen the Continent expand beyond Andrzej Sapkowski's wildest expectations and into a whole world of spin-offs and TV shows.

Is The Witcher Getting A Remake?

You might remember we once wrote CDPR off after the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, but after surviving a massive cyberattack, releasing the Phantom Liberty DLC, and announcing a full-blown sequel, it's clear the developer is nowhere near done. If keeping Night City alive wasn't enough, how about a plethora of projects from The Witcher?

In early October, CD Projekt Red announced a whopping five new games, and apparently, a remake of The Witcher is the title that was previously going under the codename "Canis Majoris." It's great news that we're going back to the start, but warning we're a way off yet, CDPR said, "We want to do this right, so please be patient — it's gonna be a while until we can share more details."

Polish developer Fool's Theory is working on The Witcher remake, but apart from that, details are thin on the ground. One major plus is that the remake will be developed in Unreal Engine 5 - which is the peak of where technology is these days. It's also a move away from the REDengine that is usually used by CDPR. Expect to see every wrinkle and scar on Geralt's face when The Witcher remake is eventually revealed.

What Other Witcher Games Is CDPR Working On?

So you like Witchers, eh? Well, have all the Witchers in the world. The long-rumoured The Witcher 4 also hopes to cast a spell over us all, and in case you weren't already pumped, it's due to kick off a new trilogy. These games will be released across a six-year period, so in theory, there shouldn't be an achingly long gap between them all.

Alongside The Witcher remake and The Witcher 4 being called "Polaris," there's the next Cyberpunk under the name "Orion," a multiplier focussed Witcher game being developed under The Molasses Flood as "Sirius," and a mysterious and "distinct" IP that's brand-new for CDPR called "Hadar." Not bad for a company that was once being sued by its shareholders for apparently lying to them. Still, we find ourselves asking whether CDPR has taken on too much. The last thing we want is a Rockstar situation.
