Cyberpunk 2077 has had an incredibly rocky life cycle, but it's just about levelling out. Finally.

The game launched visibly unfinished, with bugs and glitches so potent that they forced the game to infamy so remarkable that even PlayStation wouldn't allow it on the PS Store. And that's saying something, because the PS Store is home to some real stinkers.

The game has since cleaned up its act, bringing in updates that are pushing to make the game actually playable on console, as well as introducing new DLC to sweeten the pot.

But it has been confirmed that CD PROJEKT RED isn't stopping there.

A Cyberpunk Sequel Is Officially Happening

It has just been confirmed by CD PROJEKT RED that its new project, codenamed 'Orion', is officially a direct sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

The news has come as part of a wave of new content revealed by the company, in a vague tweet that offers a peek into its long-term plan for production.

This unexpected info dump also confirms that the upcoming Witcher title will kickstart a new trilogy, and that the team is also working on a brand-new original IP to boot.

This is surprising news to land now, especially as there's a lot of mess left to clean up after Cyberpunk 2077's launch, as well as its upcoming DLC, but hey - we'll certainly take it.

Most Of CD PROJEKT RED's Upcoming Games Will Feature Multiplayer

That's not everything from the announcement, however - the development team has also revealed that their plan is to make most of their upcoming games with added multiplayer, to help to expand their worlds and enhance their interconnectedness.

This means that, providing these are the series that they're talking about, we could be getting added multiplayer modes for both The Witcher and Cyberpunk games.

This is a huge step for the franchises, and it could come to put CD PROJEKT RED in good stead again - but these are certainly big undertakings. The company seems to think it's up to the challenge, and we'll just have to wait to see how it pans out.
