The Witcher Multiplayer Is Finally On The Way
The Witcher, especially its third entry, has become an icon of single-player experiences. Though many of the most heralded single-player games are a little more linear (thanks in part to the fact that we haven't had an absolute banger of a western RPG since Skyrim), The Witcher 3 did a great deal for introducing players to an expansive fantasy world that they could get lost in for hundreds of hours.
Still, it's sometimes a bit of a lonely experience out there as Geralt of Rivia. But now, it looks like the series will be making one hell of a departure from its roots. Yes, The Witcher multiplayer is finally on the way.
The Witcher Multiplayer Is Coming
As a part of the huge wave of announcements that CD PROJEKT RED has made regarding its future, the once-lauded developer has confirmed that among the upcoming Witcher games is a multiplayer mode.
Revealing that many of its upcoming titles will feature multiplayer in hopes of bolstering the single-player experience, the company also explicitly stated that one of its Witcher projects will feature multiplayer.
Listing out each of the planned Witcher games, CD PROJEKT RED move on to Sirius - "Sirius is a codename for the game developed by @molassesflood, set in The Witcher universe and created with support from CDPR," reads the announcement tweet. "It will differ from our past productions, offering multiplayer gameplay on top of a single-player experience including a campaign with quests and a story."
What Could This Mystery Witcher Game Be?
Right now, we have no idea if this new game could be a full mainline title or a spin-off featuring multiplayer - but a fully-fledged new game would be a real treat. The game could end up following the structure practically invented by GTA V, introducing a potential Witcher online version of the game.
If not, The Witcher multiplayer could be totally integrated into the main adventure. We don't know what to expect, but either way, this news is incredibly exciting. The Witcher is throwing its doors open, and we'll be right there on day one to see what CD PROJEKT RED has been working on.
