It's that time of the year when a large selection of Call of Duty fanatics have become tired of the current meta and have eyed the next working title, whilst others are downing tools and screaming "I'm not buying the next CoD, they're all the same" from the rooftops - I don't believe you, Timmy.

Since Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War reignited the Call of Duty franchise and brought back a wealth of loyal players and attracted further battle royale enthusiasts, the discussion around where the franchise will head next has been widely debated. However, it appears that the rumours are true, and Sledgehammer Gaming will be getting a final crack at the whip to see if they can become a respected developer.

With two failed attempts in the past with Advanced Warfare (although its competitive scene was brilliant) and WWII, Sledgehammer will look to continue off the back of their last title, taking us post-WWII and into the 1950s. The title...

According to credible leakers Modern Warzone, Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard will be Sledgehammer's 2021 title.

The game is set to follow on from WWII, possibly with an alternate ending and a fantasised storyline rather than focusing on real-life events. Previous reports indicated that the game will be named "Guerilla Warfare" which will touch on an unreleased Sledgehammer game from 2009.

The post-WWII storyline has been heavily linked with covering the Korean War, which kicked off in 1950. The Guerilla Warfare theme would also have coincided with the Vietnam War which saw the slippery stylistics in prime action, although there were fears that it could overlap with the Black Ops franchise.

With the three-way integration between Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War, and Warzone, it also seems that the trifecta will become a quad, with Vanguard also being integrated and their weapons being available in the BR after its release.
