‘Phenomenal’ Gray Zone Warfare is everything CoD dads wished for
While the future of Call of Duty looks to be in pretty safe hands, after one of the best years of content this side of the jetpack era and a roadmap which is about to see Treyarch take control with a project four years in the making, that isn't stopping competitors coming in from all angles to take down the franchise.
Already this week we've seen multiplayer get rivalled once again by another XDefiant test, an undead round-based Sker Ritual has bitten Zombies, and now the Campaign and DMZ are under threat as a new tactical and realism-heavy game is on the way.
Gray Zone Warfare has just undergone its first Alpha test, and it appears to be quite the sight for Call of Duty dads.
Gray Zone Warfare playtesting lauded as 'phenomenal'
Click to enlargeDubbed a mixture of Call of Duty and Ghost Recon (and maybe a little bit of DayZ), Gray Zone Warfare has launched a private week of testing where content creators in the space have been inviting their friends into this PvPvE extraction title.
And already, it's being dubbed as "phenomenal" by those who have played.
Taking to social media via the ModernWarzone channel, content creator "DougDagnabbit" said, "Gray Zone Warfare feels like Tarkov and DayZ had a child and it’s everything I’ve asked for in an extraction shooter so far after about 8 hours of playtime.
"Phenomenal job, if early access is this good I look forward to the full release," he added.
Call of Duty dads are loving "once-in-a-generation" Gray Zone Warfare
With FPS games getting increasingly quick, with Call of Duty (MW3 and Warzone), XDefiant, and even the modern Battlefield titles all following that mould, Gray Zone Warfare has toned the pace right down and appealed to those veterans out there with a taste for precision and patience over flash and bang.
"Old guy bold prediction. I’m calling it now. Gray Zone Warfare is a once-in-a-generation FPS title that will be played for years and years," another fan has said on Twitter.
Another streamer named "Mr Gibbon" also applauded the same, saying, "I can't stress enough how much I love Gray Zone Warfare. The bullets whizzing over my head were intense and the kills were highly rewarding."
The title is finishing off its early access phase of testing this week, with a full launch expected to be quite imminent.
