It was always a bit weird that Modern Warfare 3 was the game where Activision gave the green light for all of the original Modern Warfare 2 maps to be remastered, especially given the fact that last year's game shared the same name as the 2009 classic.

Yet the rebooted series decided now was the time to give us that remastered content, celebrating arguably the greatest title that Call of Duty has produced in its 20-year history.

But what about the OG Modern Warfare 3? Can we get some of that remastered action too? Please...

Call of Duty fans want OG MW3 maps back

Although MW2's maps are already pencilled in history as the best collection Call of Duty made, alongside the Black Ops 2 pool, the original Modern Warfare 3 title had some belters too, and fans have now called on the namesake sister games to merge.

Popular journalist Jacob Hale took to Twitter to share four of the most memorable maps from that era, calling for Resistance, Underground, Seatown, and Lockdown all to return to the series.

Other brilliant MW3 maps also consisted of Village, Arkaden, and Mission, all of which would play well in the modern era of CoD.

Could we ever get Modern Warfare 3 (2011) remastered maps?

Modern Warfare 3 still remains one of the most popular legacy titles ever made, having been a great successor in the MW series, and the fan base would lap up seeing some of the content reappear.

Continuing the rally cries, one fan said, "TRUUUUUUUE W TWEET."

"My thoughts exactly!!! MW2 already got its remastered game, least they could’ve done is added all the MW3 maps to MWIII as well," added another fan.

It wouldn't be unfathomable for MW3 to get OG MW3 maps, given the already-large map pool from previous games gone by, although Sledgehammer might be preparing to take us down its own memory lane with Advanced Warfare and Vanguard content instead.
