Following in the footsteps of Fortnite and Apex Legends, the Call of Duty universe is finally getting a Ranked mode for its battle royale genre.

Like Fortnite, Warzone has always been a casual game - despite attempts at an esports scene through private matches and kill races. However, the community has often yearned for something like Epic's Arenas, which scratched the competitive itch.

Now, Warzone's demons will be pleased to know that a ranked playlist is just around the corner...

Warzone 2 Ranked Confirmed For Future Seasons

Three years after its launch, the battle royale is getting a competitive game mode. The rumours were right, as Call of Duty has announced that Warzone 2 will be getting a Ranked playlist.

The developers revealed that Warzone 2 Ranked will be coming in the "Season 3 and beyond" category. Sadly, that doesn't mean it will land with the imminent Season 2 drop.

The Warzone 2 Ranked playlist is set to arrive in a future season alongside Plunder and Modern Warfare 2's Gunfight, although this does rule out any notion of it coming within the next ten weeks.

Treyarch To Roll out Warzone 2 Ranked

Despite Warzone 2 mainly being under the influence of Raven Software, High Moon Studios, and Infinity Ward during this Modern Warfare 2 era, Treyarch is stepping up to the plate for the Ranked playlist.

The Warzone 2 Ranked playlist will fall under Treyarch's umbrella, although there are few details on how the rankings will work and how you grind through the levels.

Warzone 2 fans can be excited by this prospect, especially given that Treyarch's most recent Ranked playlist for MW2 is being hailed as "the most rewarding" mode ever, meaning you will be well replenished for your efforts.
