2K Games is "switching" it up, as it looks like all the carnage and colourful characters of Borderlands 3 could be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Away from Nintendo's IPs like MarioZelda, and Pokemon, the Switch has a growing catalogue of games that are ported from third-party developers. Whether you want to play Alien: IsolationThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, or BioShock: The Collection, Nintendo has an impressive crop of titles. The only problem is, they tend to come a lot later than their general release on PlayStation and Xbox.

Following the main release of Borderlands 3 in September 2019, there was a Stadia launch in December, with Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 releases in November 2021. Although other Borderlands games have made the jump to Switch since the console first hit the market in 2017, Borderlands 3 has been left out in the cold (until now). If the Borderlands 3 Director's Cut wasn't enough, Switch players can finally enjoy all the peril of Pandora while taking on the Calypso Twins,

With the popularity of the Borderlands series, many questioned why 2K didn't launch Borderlands 3 on the Switch. Over the years, we've seen the other Borderlands games come to the Switch when Borderlands Legendary Collection combined the first two main series games and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for the first time ever. In terms of Borderlands 3's long-awaited arrival on Switch, the surprise has seemingly been revealed ahead of time via the Pan European Game Information website (PEGI).

A listing on PEGI shows off Borderlands 3: Director's Cut for the Switch. The listing includes the previously released versions for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows. If Borderlands 3 is coming to the Switch, it will round off the whole family on every console. Even though PEGI has a decent track record of spoiling Switch ports, all might not be as it seems.

Why Borderlands 3 might not be coming to Nintendo Switch

Going against the idea of Borderlands 3 coming to the Switch, GameSpot's Gabe Gurwin claims to have spoken to a 2K rep, who debunked the idea of Borderlands 3 coming to Switch. Since then, the listing for a Switch port has been removed from the original source. So what's going on? Is 2K waiting to give Borderlands 3 on Switch an official announcement or has our fun been ruined before it's even started?

When Borderlands 3 first launched, Creative Director Paul Sage said "never say never" when quizzed on the idea of the title coming to Switch. That was two years ago, so it's not like Gearbox hasn't had plenty of time to make sure Borderlands 3 can run on the home/portable hybrid. The signature style of Borderlands animations also perfectly fit the Switch's graphical capabilities. Unfortunately, we're no closer to finding out whether Borderlands 3 is coming to the Nintendo Switch or not. Oh well, maybe the mythical Borderlands 4 will one day.
