Baldur’s Gate 3 mod takes RPG from horny to wholesome
Baldur’s Gate 3, since its launch, has clambered its way to legendary status. The work that Larian Studios put into their effort to bring D&D further into the spotlight paid off massively and instantly became a gaming highlight for 2023, revealing that even those who were reluctant to try a full-blown fantasy RPG falling head over heads for its action. As well as that other kind of action.
Even though many are quicker to applaud the game’s ability to take you in any direction you please, there are some fans that have dedicated much more to the romance aspect than others, either looking for the love of their life or just to get their rocks off. But now, one new mod has given players the chance to find a more platonic kind of love.

Click to enlargeSometimes all you need is a cuddle, and it seems that Larian, in all their development benevolence, neglected to consider this - luckily, though, there are modders out there to bring a little cuddle to their clans.
The new mod found on NexusMods, simply titled ‘Hugs’, allows Baldur’s Gate 3 fans to get a little more intimate with characters that aren’t explicitly romanceable, giving players two new spells that will allow them to ask a tall humanoid character to give them a little hug. The mod is developed from the animation of hugs with Shadowheart and Halsin, meaning there are two hugs to choose from, a Regular spell and a Strong spell, so you can pick your favourite depending on the situation.
The mod might still be a little clunky with developer Cerberry adding that “the transition to hugs is not so smooth” with players needing to click through afterwards to avoid both characters standing and staring at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time, but we’ll take the hit to the flow of the game. Sometimes it’s worth taking a risk for a little snuggle.
