While we all know Mr. Bump, Mr. Greedy, Mr. Tickle, and Little Miss Sunshine, what about Mr. Ezio, Little Miss Kassandra, Mr Eivor and Little Miss Shao Jun? Since 1971, the Mr. Men (and later) Little Miss Books have become a staple of our childhoods. In a very different realm, the Assassin's Creed games have kept us entertained since 2007. Although the bloodthirsty battles of Spartans, pirates, and Vikings might seem a million miles away from Mr. Grumpy having a bit of a bad day, the two franchises are about to come together in a big way.

Although Ubisoft ploughing its efforts into last year's Assassin's Creed Valhalla means we probably won't get a new main series entry until 2022, that doesn't mean the publisher is scaling down its efforts of an expanded AC universe. Alongside anime series, spinoffs, and young adult novels, a new line of children's books will bring an Assassin's Creed and Mr. Men crossover to a bookshop near you in 2021.

What is the Assassin's Creed and Mr Men crossover?

Ubisoft has officially teamed up with Hachette Heroes to release a line of children's books that will dive off a spire and into the world of Assassin's Creed. Although the Mr. Men books were famously penned by Roger Hargreaves, his son took over following his father's death in 1988. Adam Hargreaves is working on the Assassin's Creed and Mr. Men crossover, which will include some familiar faces. Six books will make up the series, with each focussing on a different assassin from the game franchise.

Hyping the release of the books, Ubisoft said, "By mixing the Assassin’s Creed sense of adventure and history with the colourful and delightful designs of the Little Mr. Men, these books will appeal to both young and adult readers. Follow Mister Ezio, Little Miss Kassandra, and Little Miss Eivor, as they each try to complete their own missions in the first three books of this series!"

What's next for Assassin's Creed crossovers?

Ubisoft taking the Assassin's Creed IP beyond video game is nothing new. As well as comics and graphic novels, there was the lacklustre live-action movie starring Michael Fassbender, and hopes that a Netflix series in the vein of The Witcher will do a little better. There's seemingly no stopping Ubisoft, with plans for a Division Netflix series AND Splinter Cell anime also in the works. Of course, it's Assassin's Creed that has the most projects in the pipeline. A series of children books wasn't exactly what we were expecting in terms of big AC news, but to be honest, we're here for it.

It's unclear just how violent the Assassin's Creed books will be, but they are marked as being more aimed at adults than actual kids. Imagine your little tots opening a page, only to see Mr. Eivor decapitating a Saxon with his blood-drenched axe. The release also doesn't make it clear whether these books will simply recount the events of the various assassins' games or take them somewhere new. Either way, it might be a bit weird to add Mr. Men canon to the already complicated lore of AC. We only know the first three assassins who will be immortalised in the Assassin's Creed and Mr. Men crossover, but expect to find out more soon.
