Season 17 of Apex Legends introduced a set of hefty changes to Ranked, all in an attempt to improve the competitive experience. Unfortunately, the update seems to have had an adverse effect, with one pro even managing to hit Predator rank while dealing no damage or getting any kills.
On top of this, the long-standing complaints surrounding matchmaking are still being mentioned, with lower-skilled competitors being placed in lobbies with top-tier players. It's even reached the point where Bronze and Silver players are being dominated by Predator opponents in their games.
Predator Apex Legends players are destroying Silvers
Silver 2 and nonstop playing against preds and masters. I love it here......

Taking to the Apex Legends subreddit, user oljace posted a clip showcasing their frustration with the current state of Ranked in Season 17. Despite currently sitting in Silver 2, they're constantly being placed against 'three stack Masters, or a mix of Pred and Master' tier players.
Complaining that they can't "compete with the guys that make it to Masters in three weeks," it's clear oljace is getting tired of Ranked as the matchmaking means it's impossible for them to climb.
This frustration is shared by countless other users in the thread, with one revealing they "died to pred teams 5 games in a row the other night... Not even sure how that’s even possible when my team is Gold."
Another added, "It's not bugged, it's made that way, thanks to fkin hidden mmr," while a third concluded, "They just do it because nobody would be playing ranked with longer queue times."
Will Respawn fix Ranked matchmaking in Apex Legends?
Matchmaking in Apex Legends has been a long-standing complaint from the community, and despite Respawn's attempts to improve Ranked, the issue seems to persist.
While you can almost guarantee the devs will implement more changes in the future to enhance the competitive mode, it's hard to know if they'll solve the balance of lobbies.
However, currently, with Silvers facing Predators on a regular basis, it's clear there's a serious problem with how players are being placed together in matches.
