Our beloved Gibraltar, what have they done to you? They've massacred our boy. As an original cast member - and the squishiest of the bunch - Gibraltar holds a special place in the hearts of Apex Legends fans. Sadly, Gibby currently sits as the second-least-picked character in the game.
Only beaten to the wooden spoon by the other chunk, Newcastle, Gibraltar's kit is in need of some love. Now, some fans believe they have the perfect recipe to cook up a perfect counter to one of the most-feared legends.
Fan-made Gibraltar buffs could catapult his pick-rate
Having received few buffs over his five-year tenure, apart from a revive time boost, Gibby's bubble and airstrike is pretty much exactly what it was when the game was first released.
So, with a need for an update, one fan has theorised that allowing Gibraltar to counter against scan legends like Seer and Bloodhound with his bubble would be a great way to make him viable once again.
The user points out Seer's abilities as the first counter, where his bubble could wipe out the footprints visible through walls, and his passive. Respawn seldom makes counters against ultimates, but it could also be a great way to make Gibby even more viable if the bubble counteracted scans inside Seer's dome too.
Gibraltar stans hope for love in Season 17
After missing out on a proper swimsuit skin in the latest Apex Legends update, Gibraltar fans are now just hoping that something along the lines of this fan-made buff will apply in Season 17.
Many of the thread's commenters did point out that he would also need a bit more protection against Crypto though, whose ultimate breaks the bubble and would simply replace Seer as the recon legend in the meta.
Not everyone was convinced. One critic wrote, "They shouldn't buff him lmao. He's only bad right now bc Seer is so meta." Another added, "Imo they should just not make a single change to Gibby and it will sort itself out if seer ult gets nerfed. His kit is perfectly how it should be and it's just not his meta right now."
However, some more love and viability for Gibraltar is all that players want, having been so dominant this time last year.
