Crypto might be Apex Legends’ biggest swings and misses. As one of the coolest characters in the Outlands, Crypto has been nothing but underwhelming since he was added.

At face value, his kit is designed for the more intelligent and highly-ranked players, but unfortunately, he’s never been able to crack into the meta permanently, only very becoming a real option when the likes of Bloodhound and Seer get nerfed.

Nevertheless, there is always hope that Respawn could alter his drone and other abilities to catalyst a Crypto flurry. Now, according to Apex Legends fans, he’s only a couple - well six - tweaks away from being a force again.

Just as a full rework is being planned for Revenant, players have now surmised a list of ability reworks that will have Cryptoi championed for the first time

One of the main grievances with Crypto’s kit is his drone. The usage of his tactical and ultimate abilities has always fallen short despite attempts at balancing them out.

But giving Crypto the ability to deploy his drone whilst on ziplines could be one of the simplest ways to help his kit be useful.

Another idea comes from Reddit where other players said that he should also be able to heal at the same time as deploying his drone, and instantly recall his drone, cementing that the usability of the drone appears to be the main reason that limits his kit.

Apex Legends players want more Drone usage in a Crypto Rework

Crypto has been a somewhat useful legend in the highest ranks of Apex Legends, and in professional play, where his drone can be used to pick up teammates' banners, making redeployment easier. But given that his drone is also illuminated by an ethereal green pulse, players have now claimed that another fix would be removing the drone's glow.

Combined with more accurate drone throwing, and a more consistent drone scan, these minor tweaks would make Crypto much more viable, without actually changing him and how he would play in the meta.

With hope, Crypto could be a meta choice once again, and bounce back from his 1% pick rates, challenging recon legends, especially for those more reserved players who have aggressive teammates.
