Stellar Blade is the upcoming third-person action game coming from SHIFT UP with a focus on kinetic, frantic combat and exploration. This is the South Korean studio's first non-mobile game, and below I will outline everything I know about the title so far.

Not only have I covered all the trailers released, but also the release date for the game, all we know about the story, and what platforms Stellar Blade will be releasing on.

Stellar Blade release date

Stellar Blade will be arriving very soon with an April 26 release date. The game was initially supposed to be released in 2023, however, it was ultimately delayed with a suggested release date of January earlier this year. Since then, it has since moved back further to settle on an April release date with the demo already available to check out as of March 29.

What platforms will it release on?

Stellar Blade is a platform exclusive, only releasing on PS5. There has been no mention at the moment if it will come to PC later down the line, but considering other PlayStation Exclusives like Horizon: Forbidden West and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart were released on PC a couple of years later, there’s a chance it’ll arrive later down the line.

All we know about the story and plot

The story takes place in a bleak future where an abandoned Earth is now filled with a variety of different creatures all out to get you, while humanity has escaped to space. You’ll play as EVE who ends up stranded on Earth and takes shelter in the planet's last city Xion to take refuge.

EVE becomes the city and humanity’s last hope for survival. As she progresses, a mystery will continue to unravel about why and how Earth fell. There isn’t much more information about the story so far, but luckily it won’t be long until we can play the game properly.

Stellar Blade gameplay information

Stellar Blade is a fast-paced action game that features boss battles and challenging combat. The demo offers a good insight into what we can expect early on as it is the opening of the game, and from this, it's easy to compare the combat to games in the Soulslike genre. Whether or not it will be quite so challenging remains to be seen.

The world is considered semi-open (according to the game’s official page) with plenty of side paths and areas to explore. Again, we should know lots more on release, but so far it is shaping up for a challenging single-player game with plenty of inspiration.

All trailers so far

The first trailer we saw for the game highlighted the world, showed off the character and teased a bit of what we can expect from the story. When this trailer was released, the game was still known as Project EVE, but has since changed its name although the main character is still known as EVE.

The next trailer is longer and offers a more detailed look at the game's combat - also showing off some of the game's many enemies. On top of that, plenty of NPCs are shown as well as some of the more RPG-esque systems in the game.

The most recent trailer highlights the game's protagonist. It's considerably shorter than all the other trailers but is also a lot more focused on EVE.

That's all there is to know about the game, for more check out our Stellar Blade homepage. We also have a release calendar for all the games coming this year to keep an eye on.
