Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 - How To Complete Rooftop Gaps
With Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 rolling into our lives for a remastered version of the classic 1999 and 2000 games, Hawk wannabes are making the most of the skateboarding simulator. Among the challenges old and new, one part that is proving trickier than most is clearing the three rooftop gaps. With the objective simply being "Complete the Rooftop Gaps", players aren't given much to go on here.
Thankfully, we've got a breakdown of where to find the gaps - and how to clear them. It's time to take a "leap" of faith with the Rooftop Gaps Challenge. For this one, we're heading to Downtown. It might not be immediately clear where the gaps are, or how to even get up onto the roofs, but thankfully, you only need to clear three to complete the challenge.
The gaps are extra-wide, meaning players will need to make some big jumps to clear the rooftops. Getting there is the first hurdle you'll have to kickflip over. When you first enter Downtown, head to the right and up the hill. You'll come across a parked truck which you can Ollie off - through the glass window. Believe us, it doesn't hurt as much as it looks like it would.
If you're asking which gaps need to be cleared to complete Rooftop Gaps, these are three you'll need before taking home the prize.
Rooftop Gap 1: Smash through the greenhouse window in the area to the left of where you enter the rooftops. Grind to find the gap, and make sure you can get enough height to clear the window. You'll find a room full of toilet paper.
Rooftop Gap 2: Return to the main area and head for the bowl straight ahead. Build up speed in the bowl and launch yourself up the ramp with the yellow arrow to clear the next gap.
Rooftop Gap 3: Keep your wits about you, because the final gap picks up directly after the second. You have to drop down and grind on the rail in the plaza. If you hit the roof instead of the railing, the move won't count. Timing is key, so make sure you're ready to press the grind button as you land on the railing.
You might find yourself struggling to clear the gaps between roofs, but if this is the case, don't worry. Return to the Skater menu and open up the stats tab to give your character some tweaks in terms of Air, Hangtime, and Speed.
Don't be afraid to spend your skill points, and make sure you can build up the pace. A little extra boost should be enough to launch you over the rooftops. Other handy hints include filling your SPECIAL meter before attempting a jump, and holding your Ollie until the last second before releasing the button once you've left a ramp.
With Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 being a beloved trip down memory lane, it's obviously sparked questions about whether Vicarious Visions will go back into the acclaimed back catalogue of Skater titles and bring more fan-favourites back for a revamp. We're just hoping Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 will get a new lease of life. Come on, guys, it makes sense!
