While you might want to get your hands on it as soon as possible, the assault rifle is unfortunately not found until you get to the Colony chapter, which is one of the last in the game. Thankfully, you won't have to go far once you get to this chapter though, as it is in one of the first areas that you get to.

Once you reach the small settlement where you have to activate the elevator, head to the second floor via the ladder and wrap around to the left.

Once you've reached the left-hand side of the upper level, you should get to a shack that has a 'General Store' sign outside it, and an arrow pointing to the elevator underneath. To the right of that building is a bathroom with three sinks inside, and you'll want to head inside there.

On the shelf of the middle sink you will find the Assault Rifle schematic, which you can trade in at the nearest UJC terminal to get your hands on the gun. Make sure to pick up the other trade items next to the schematic, as they will help you afford it if you're low on Callisto Credits.

You will need to spend 1,000 Callisto Credits if you wish to unlock the assault rifle for use, but it is very worth it as it is one of the strongest weapons in the game.

The assault rifle is the only weapon in the game that does not operate on a single-fire basis, so it is immediately strong in that regard. It fires in a three-round burst, and has an expandable magazine size of up to 24.

While not doing as much single-fire damage as something like the riot shotgun, it is fantastic for quickly taking down a target if they're not right up in your face, and works very well when combined with the GRP.

So, that's all you'll need to know if you were wondering where to find the assault rifle in The Callisto Protocol. If you want to find out what we thought of Striking Distance Studios new game though, don't miss our The Callisto Protocol review.
