Pokemon Day 2023 was a big celebration of the Pocket Monsters franchise with a whole slew of announcements for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, along with various other games. Along with Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Pokemon Company announced a Tera Raid for the Paradox version of the Gen-5 legendary Virizion, Iron Leaves. Here is all you need to know in this Iron Leaves Pokemon Scarlet and Violet guide.

Available longer than most exclusive Tera raid Pokemon, the 5-Star Iron Leaves Tera Raid - exclusive to Pokemon Violet - is available from Monday, 27 February 2023 at 3PM UTC to Sunday, 12 March 2023 at 11:59PM UTC.

Although available for almost two weeks, it should be kept in mind that only one Iron Leaves can be caught per game. However, you can still take part in the raid as many times as you like, or join other Iron Leaves raids if you have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

To access the Iron Leaves location for this Violet Tera Raid, you'll have first needed to unlock 5-Star Raids. To unlock 5-Star Raids, you'll need to beat the game's main story and complete the Academy Ace Tournament storyline.

Afterward, Jacq will call you that the more powerful Tera Raids have appeared across the map.

On your map, look for the shining Grass-type Tera Raid symbol and that's where the Iron Leaves Tera Raid can be found. Otherwise, if you're playing Pokemon Scarlet, you can also search for the Tera Raid online the Poke Portal.

Although not as difficult as the 7-Star Tera Raid events that have been appearing lately, like for Greninja or Cinderace, it will still be a tough fight for the unprepared. Along with high Atk and Speed, its unique potential moveset; Electric Terrain, Megaheron, Leafblade, Psyblade, and Swords Dance; pairs powerfully with its Quark Drive ability - boosting its highest stat (Atk) by 30% when using Electric Terrain.

What's more, Iron Leaves's exclusive move, Psyblade, is boosted by another 50% when using Electric Terrain as well. Altogether, the Virizion Paradox Pokemon is quite the heavy hitter.

Although this Paradox Pokemon has a base Grass-Psychic type, Iron Leaves's Tera type is Psychic. Along with that and its 5-Star level, you won't need to prepare too meticulously with a particular Pokemon for this raid. Since Iron Leaves knows Megahorn, dark types would be a no-go here.

So, as long as you go in with a tank Ghost-type of at least level 75-80 - Like Gholdengo, Skeledirge, or Spiritomb - you should be more than able to defeat and catch Iron Leaves on your first try.
