The Pokemon GO Festival of Colors is back to coincide with the real-world event of Holi. As part of the game's celebrations, Oricorio will be spawning for the first time in Pokemon GO, and there will be a lot to see and do. Check ahead for all the details you need on the Festival of Colors Collection Challenge, available Field Research, and much more. 

The event runs from March 15 (10am local) to March 20 (8pm).

Pokemon GO Festival of Colors: Bonuses And Features

A handful of bonuses and other goings-on will be active during the event. 

  • Lures will last for three hours
  • Smeargle can photobomb snapshots five times per day
    • It can be shiny, too!
  • New avatar items are available for free in the in-game shop and will be available after the event ends, as well

Bonuses In India

Trainers in India can celebrate the Festival of Colors in Pokemon GO with even more bonuses. 

  • If Trainers in the region catch 2 million Pokemon between March 18 at 10am to March 20 at 8pm local time, a double catch candy bonus will activate
  • An event box will be available in the shop for 125 Poke Coins. It contains a standard Lure, Glacial Lure, Mossy Lure, and a Lucky Egg
  • From 3pm IST on March 15 to 12am IST on March 21, players in India can post a summary snapshot from their game with the hashtags #PokemonGOSummer and #GOsnapshot on Instagram and follow @pokemongoappin on Instagram for a chance to win a Sweepstakes contest

Oricorio Debuts

As part of the event, Oricorio, originally discovered in the Alola region, is making its debut in Pokemon GO. Oricorio comes in four forms, and these forms will be regional in Pokemon GO. The exact spawn borders and locations are not yet nailed down, but here's what we do know: 

  • Pom-Pom Style Oricorio (Electric/Flying) will spawn in the Americas
  • Baile Style Oricorio (Fire/Flying) will spawn in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
  • Sensu Style Oricorio (Ghost/Flying) will spawn in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Pa'u Style Oricorio (Psychic/Flying) will spawn in "African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands," per Niantic's post. So far, it's been confirmed to spawn in parts of Indonesia, parts of Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Malaysia

Pa'u Style Oricorio has not been confirmed in any African islands, Hawai'i, or other Pacific islands that we've seen, but according to Niantic, at least some of these places should be possible.

Pokemon GO Festival of Colors: Collection Challenge

You'll need to be sure to catch many of those wild spawns if you want to complete the Collection Challenge and add to your Elite Collector Medal. Here's who you'll need for the Pokemon GO Festival of Colors Collection Challenge: 

  • Slugma
  • Trapinch
  • Drowzee
  • Turtwig
  • Horsea
  • Taillow
  • Gligar
  • Oricorio*

For completing the challenge, you'll earn 20,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust, and an encounter with Oricorio*.

*The Oricorio form you need to catch and the one in the encounter reward will both be based on your region.

Pokemon GO Festival of Colors: Field Research Tasks And Rewards

Event-exclusive Field Research tasks will be available during the Festival of Colors. Here are all of them, and their rewards: 

  • Catch 10 different species of Pokemon - Oricorio encounter (form based on your region)
  • Catch 5 different species of Pokemon - Castform encounter (any form)
  • Catch 8 different species of Pokemon - Burmy encounter (any form)
  • Hatch an Egg - Alolan Grimer
  • Catch 3 Grass-type Pokemon - Bulbasaur encounter or 20x Venusar Mega Energy
  • Catch 3 Fire-type Pokemon - Charmander encounter or 20x Charizard Mega Energy
  • Catch 3 Water-type Pokemon - Squirtle encounter or 20x Blastoise Mega Energy 

Pokemon GO Festival Of Colors: Raids

Raids will feature bosses that match the colourful vibe of the event. Here's who you'll see: 

Tier 1

  • Jigglypuff
  • Bulbasaur
  • Charmander
  • Squirtle
  • Rockruff

Tier 3

  • Kantonian Marowak
  • Alolan Marowak
  • Chansey
  • Umbreon
  • Druddigon

Tier 5

  • Therian Form Tornadus

Mega Tier

  • Mega Lopunny

There will be a Raid Hour on Wednesday, March 26 from 6pm to 7pm local time, featuring Tornadus. 

The Pokemon GO Festival of Colors isn't the only happenings this month, as there is also the Pokemon GO raid hours.
