Payday 3: Leaks, Trailers & Everything We Know

Although Payday isn't as relevant a franchise as it was around five years ago, the announcement of Payday 3 coming in the next couple of years is quite exciting. The addictive heist gameplay, punctuated by crazy shootouts, unique gadgets, and even the rare stealth run, made for a rewarding title that gave hours of content. It seems with a constantly shifting world that even Payday has changed too, so here's our rundown on everything we know about Payday 3.
Is There A Payday 3 Release Date?
Payday 3 is set to come ten years after the second game was released, with it given a release window of 2023 currently. Starbreeze nor Koch Media, who signed a massive publishing deal to fund the game, have spoken on a more specific time of release, and with such a wide release window, the game could anywhere from a little over a year, to two years away.
Payday 3: Trailers
As it stands, there are no trailers for Payday 3, with just some concept art currently released to the public. The first public confirmation of the game was back in August 2020, when the official Payday Twitter responded to a tweet, stating, "Payday 3 is confirmed to be in the design phase, yes." Since then, we've not heard too much aside from the occasional interview, along with the news that Koch Media would publish the title.
Payday 3: Gameplay And Story

We don't know a lot about Payday 3 yet, but during a celebration stream of the Payday franchise's ten-year anniversary, we caught some snippets of info. The director of the upcoming game, Erik Wonnevi, revealed that the game will be set primarily in New York City, which is set to be a "living, enormous representation of the city."
It's set a few years after the canonical events of Payday 2, with the gang retired and even stars in the media, who somehow have covered their exploits. Retirement doesn't last however, and Erik confirmed that the original gang of Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf are eventually thrust back into a life of crime and glamorous heists.
Another interesting addition is how the world of Payday has changed since the second game. "The world of Payday has transitioned into the digital age" Wonnevi went on to say, "with software giants, cryptocurrencies, mass surveillance, and the Dark Web all playing a role in the gang's new gadgets, challenges, and opportunities." It sounds like a great opportunity to spice up the franchise by adding more mechanics, depth, and gameplay elements.
Payday 3: Platforms
As we know the game is set for a release date sometime in 2023, and is confirmed to be released for the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. However, no specifics on which console generation or which PC storefronts the game will release on have been revealed. Considering how far away into the console cycle the release is, we'd assume the consoles will be the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
