Magic the Gathering's Planeswalkers have been busy, dragging plenty of universes into the fantasy card game.

We've seen Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, and plenty more, and now it's the sci-fi universe of Doctor Who that's getting the cardboard treatment.

As revealed at SDCC, Wizards of the Coast is bringing the Doc and the Daleks - here's everything we know about Magic the Gathering: Doctor Who.

MTG Doctor Who release date

Magic The Gathering's Doctor Who crossover arrives on October 13 2023, and you can pre-order right now from Amazon.

The Doctor Who crossover adds new mechanics to Magic the Gathering, each themed around the Doctor's abilities and lore.

Doctor's Companion

The new Doctor Who Commander decks are going to be interesting, with this keyword meaning players can have "two commanders if the other is the Doctor".

This keyword will only work if your Commander choice is a Time Lord Doctor.

New ability word: Paradox

"Paradox - Whenever you cast a spell from anywhere but your hand"

This triggers when a card is played from another source than a player's hand, such as when using a Flashback effect.

Sagas

Sagas will play a significant role, with all 15 featured Doctors offering an associated Saga, while four Villain cards also offer the same.

Here are the Magic the Gathering Doctor Who Commander Decks. Thanks to the Doctor's Companion keyword, the Commander choice is a little more flexible, too.

  • Blast From The Past - Green/White/Blue - Centred around the first eight Doctors.
  • Timey-Wimey - Blue/Red/White - Commander option is The Tenth Doctor (3/5), Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors are included, too.
  • Paradox Power - Green/Blue/Red - This deck includes the Twelfth and Thirteenth Doctors.
  • Masters of Evil - Blue/Black/Red - Focused around iconic Villains from Doctor Who, like Daleks.
