Helldivers 2 can be very challenging and you will want any advantage you can get to excel in the war against bugs and robots, which is why it is important to know what the Extra Padding passive does in the game.

The live service game is a new release from Arrowhead Game Studios and sees players in teams of four team up to try and protect the galaxy from bug-like creatures known as Terminides and robots called Automatons.

Communication will be key on these missions, but so will ensuring you have the best weapons and gear. One of the first steps on that journey, once you’ve done the tutorial and named your ship, will be to figure out the different passives including Extra Padding.

Extra Padding is a passive ability for armour and will give players extra defence when going into battle against enemies. It doesn’t offer increased protection from every type of damage though. Instead, Extra Padding defends against explosions in particular.

So, if you have equipped an item with this passive and thought it’s not working, it’s got a very specific use case. Hopefully, the game receives a patch in the future giving more detailed descriptions of what the passives offer.

You can see what passives and armour stats are on offer for different items when viewing them in the armoury and it is certainly something worth considering when grabbing new items from the battle pass.

That is all you need to know about the Extra Padding Passive, if you’re looking for more helpful guides check out our Helldivers 2 homepage where we have already covered how to get the Anti-Material Rifle, how to get boosters and more.
