The new Controlled Sprint mechanic in EA Sports FC 24 is potentially going to be a game changer, but you will need to know what it is and how to use it if you want to take advantage of its power.

It joins the Precision Pass as one of the many new features players will be able to enjoy in EA Sports FC 24, and this one, in particular, is going to be especially handy for those pacy players we all love.

So, find out everything you need to know about the EASFC 24 Controlled Spring mechanic below, as we'll show you what it is and how to use it in the game.

What is a Controlled Sprint?

Controlled Sprint in EA Sports FC 24 is a new mechanic that allows you to run with the ball much closer to your feet. While not as fast as the standard sprint in the game, you will still be able to glide past defenders while maintaining a much higher level of control.

Using the Controlled Sprint will let you make much sharper turns and quick movements, which has been a large part of the meta in recent FIFA titles. Players with a low centre of gravity and high dribbling stats will excel when using this mechanic, and we might finally get closer than ever before to how Messi should feel when running.

How to do a Controlled Sprint

All you need to do in order to use Controlled Sprint in EASFC 24 is press and hold R1/RB while your player has the ball. It operates in the exact same way as the standard R2 sprint, only this time you're pressing R1.

You will need to release and reapply R1 if you want to pull off any Precision Passes though, but this shouldn't be too much of an issue once you get used to it.

It is especially effective to use Controlled Sprint when turning a defender or receiving the ball with your back to goal, as the combination of speed and control allows you to quickly spin around the defender and break the line of defense.

Players with the First Touch Control, Speed Dribbler, or Fast Break PlayStyles will be especially effective when using the Controlled Sprint mechanic, as they will become even faster and have a higher amount of control.

So, that's everything you need to know about the Controlled Sprint in EA Sports FC 24, showing you what it is and everything you need to do to use it in-game.
